    Castleton Closing weekend

    Tuesday, June 2, 2009, 9:49 PM [General]

I have had so much fun this season, and I'm always sad when the ending comes.  The venture northward was an experience I've wanted to try for many years and have just this season made it to Muskogee.

And oh the wonders!  The cast was fantastic, the shopping fun and the shows, food, and attractions definitely memorable.  Rain or shine, it's a wonderful place, and this is a faire I will be happy to returns to every season.  New friends were made and old friends gathered (from sometimes quite far away) and we all had a such a grand time.  I must say I was quite surprised by the wonderful experience and gracious hospitality of not only the cast and royals, but also the owner who milled around in period garb all day (every day we were in attendance) and spoke to many, many visitors.

This is a faire I highly recommend, as there is entertainmnet for all ages and much to do all during the day for reasonable prices.  I can't say enough about the great time we had visiting not one but two weekends at the Oklahoma Ren Faire (aka, the Castle at Muskogee, and Castleton).

Next weekend, on to Middlefaire to experience their new fantasy venue!

Peace and safe journey to you all.

    Scarby Closing Weekend

    Thursday, May 28, 2009, 4:09 PM [General]

    Greetings to all,

Another successful season has concluded, Scarborough Faire closed this past Memorial weekend, and we enjoyed the entire 3 days.  The weather cooperated (for the most part), and was lovely and not too hot (surprising for Texas, lol).  I always enjoy making new friends, learning new things, and getting reaquainted with all those I miss so much during the off season.  This was a great 8 weeks, especially the re-coronation of King Henry VIII!  What a lovely ceremony, and a grand HUZZAH to Don & Dona Diego and Don Alejandro for the fabulous feast!!

I have been fortunate this year to be at opening weekends for Four Winds, Scarborough, and Castleton (Muskogee, OK), and this coming weekend I will be at the closing of Castleton too.  What a grand little faire this is!  I can't hardly wait to get back and visit, then come a few other engagements over the summer including a few community appearances in my local metroplex area.  I might also do a bit of time-traveling to different centuries, so if you spot me at faire, don't be surprised if I look a bit different.  A performer since I was a child, I'm a chameleon. ;-)

I so look forward to finishing several new gowns for next season.  I wanted to have them during this season, but time wasn't on my side.  Not to worry, as I hope to visit KCRF (fingers crossed!) and will have at least one new gown.  Maybe.

Ahh... the joy of garb and traveling and friends and fun!  A little bittersweet, but no tears can wipe away the fantastic memories of friends and good times.

Peace, happiness, and good health to you, and travel safely wherever you go.

It was lovely to see you this past weekend, even though it was for such a short time! Wish you were coming back to Fourwinds so we could chat more!

    Cheers,

I can NOT believe Richard and I missed you at the Faire. I was so looking forward to seeing you both. We kept a very low profile.

I shall do exactly that your majesty! I am looking forward to being in your presence again after our long absence. I shall be there in my new French Blue doublet on Saturday and the new armor I made on Sunday. I am going to be talking to Tom about the French court while I am there this weekend as well.

My Queen, I am writing as to inquire if one might be traveling to TRF for any of the long Thanksgiving weekend?! My kinsman Sir Randolf and I are making the trek southward and would love to make an appearance before thee to renew our allegiance to you if you and court will also be in attendance. I might also offer if it should please you to look upon my gallery called “ideas” and see that I have commissioned new attire and it is constructed of French blue and black velvet with Fleur-de-lis embroidery aplenty. The pictures are of my garbs inspiration and not the completed article. I should be wearing this new garb at TRF if all goes well however. The design was inspired with your delight in my appearance in mind. As always I am in your service. God Save the Queen!
